Celebrini Player Ratings Announced Ahead of EA Sports NHL 25 Launch

Macklin Celebrini will have an overall player rating of 82 when EA Sports NHL 25 launches into Early Access on September 27.

“I think it’s cool to be in the game,” the San Jose Sharks No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NHL draft said. “Growing up, playing with my buddies, I always played as my favorite players. Now, being in the game, it’s cool to have kids who have the same experience.”

Celebrini, a 2024 Hobey Baker Award winner who was named the NCAA Division I Hockey MVP as a freshman at Boston University, is one point lower than Connor Bedard as a rookie in NHL 24 after being selected No. 1 overall by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. Bedard’s rating has improved to 88 overall this season.

Celebrini is just outside the league’s top 300 players despite his high initial rating. The 18-year-old forward also failed to make the NHL 25’s top 25 players under 25.

San Jose’s highest-rated player is free agent signing Tyler Toffoli, who has an overall rating of 86. Mikael Granlund, who led the Sharks with 60 points (12 goals, 48 assists) in 69 games last season, is second with an 85.

NHL 25 will launch worldwide on October 4 for PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
