The first trailer for the John Wick spinoff “Ballerina” is here.

Lionsgate today officially unveiled the first trailer for its latest expansion to the world of John Wick, Ballerina, featuring the origin story of Ana de Armas’ character Eve Macarro and plenty of action.

We see many of John Wick’s main characters in the trailer, which you can also watch below, as the trailer begins with Winston (Ian McShane) telling young Eve, “Do you like dancing? I know a school where they teach dancers. I could take you there if you want.

From there, we get plenty of action teasers, as well as more insight into the John Wick universe. We also see the late Lance Reddick as Charon, as well as Norman Reedus joining the series in Ballerina.

Importantly, however, Keanu Reeves, also known as John Wick himself, appears in several roles. The trailer ends with Eve asking, “You’re the one they call Little Yaga. How do I start doing what you do?”

“Looks like you already did,” he tells her.

Here’s the official synopsis from Lionsgate: “Set during the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, the film tells the story of Eve Macarro (Ana de Armas) as she begins training in the Russian Roma assassin tradition.”

In addition to de Armas, McShane, Reddick, Reedus and Reeves, Ballerina will also star Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne and Catalina Sandino Moreno. Len Wiseman directed the John Wick spinoff from a script by Shay Hatten.

Ballerina will hit theaters on June 6, 2025, after a delay earlier this year. This is just the latest installment in the ever-expanding John Wick universe; last year, a prequel series, Continental, aired on Peacock, and in May, another spin-off film centered on Donnie Yen’s character Caine was officially announced. Lionsgate also said that John Wick 5 is in the works, although we haven’t received much solid information on that.

In the meantime, read our 10/10 review of John Wick: Chapter 4, where we wrote that “incredibly choreographed action scenes, an engaging ensemble, and stylish production design combine to create a masterclass in modern action.”
