Uttar Pradesh International Trade Fair: UP-Vietnam partnership will open doors to South Asian and ASEAN markets

During these sessions, a commitment was made to strengthen the UP-Vietnam partnership to facilitate the entry of products from Uttar Pradesh into South Asian and ASEAN markets. Meanwhile, the session on e-commerce, innovation and start-ups offered insights on the role of Uttar Pradesh in the evolving digital ecosystem, both nationally and globally.

The session also focused on sectoral policies framed under the chairmanship of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The event was very popular – on the second day it was visited by over 40,000 guests.

The five-day program, which started on Wednesday in the presence of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar, CM Adityanath and Union SME Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, will end on September 29. On the second day, over 18,000 buyers and over 40,000 guests attended this global industry event.

During the event, several key officials, including Cabinet Minister for MSME Rakesh Sachan, Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Sunil Kumar Sharma and Meerut Commissioner Shilvi Kumari, along with representatives of global corporates, participated in various sessions and programs organized on behalf of the Yogi government.

The first sector discussion session held under UPITS 2024 on Thursday focused on the India-Vietnam strategic partnership, with special focus on the involvement of Uttar Pradesh. The session organized by Vietnam as a partner country was attended by the Vietnamese delegation, including Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai.

The meeting was attended by several officials representing the Yogi government, including MSME Cabinet Minister Rakesh Sachan, Electronics and Information Technology Minister Sunil Kumar Sharma and MSME Department Principal Secretary Alok Kumar.

During the program, discussions highlighted how Vietnam and India can leverage their strategic locations as gateways to the South Asian and ASEAN markets, respectively. This initiative is expected to facilitate the introduction of Uttar Pradesh products to these regions.

On this occasion, Rakesh Sachan highlighted the ancient cultural ties between India and Vietnam that make them natural partners. He also invited investors, especially from the tourism and hospitality sectors, to explore investment opportunities in Uttar Pradesh, which has become an important spiritual center in India.

The second session of the program focused on the e-commerce sector and included insights from top companies such as global e-commerce leader Amazon, top-tier fintech platform PingPong and BigCommerce, known for its collaborations with retailers. These industry giants shared invaluable insights and practical strategies with attendees.

During this session, Rakesh Sachan highlighted the government’s commitment to empowering small and medium enterprises through digital transformation, supporting innovation and increasing market access through e-commerce platforms.

On Thursday, three parallel sessions were organized for entrepreneurs, emerging industries, start-ups and budding business owners as part of various knowledge sessions. The session on “Innovation and Start-up” was hosted by Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU).

This session shared information on initiatives to promote excellence at AKTU.

Vice-Chancellor Professor JP Pandey gave a presentation on the topic ‘Journey from Academic Excellence to Entrepreneurship’.

Additionally, Maheep Singh, Head of AKTU Innovation Center, and Vandana Sharma, Innovation Center Manager, discussed how the innovation center is empowering entrepreneurs and start-ups in Uttar Pradesh and creating funding pathways for local ventures.
