The 3rd annual High River Show and Shine has something new this year – OkotoksOnline.com

Hundreds of great cars and trucks of every make and model will be rolling into High River this weekend.

Last year, more than 1,100 vehicles were entered, and more vehicles are expected this year.

Brian Chipchase Sr.’s Third Annual Event River City Classics’ Memorial Show N’ Shine will be held this Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

There’s also something new this year: dinner and dancing on Saturday night.

Live music and dinner and dancing are $40, but that includes dinner at one of the many food trucks set up in front of Eamon’s Garage and the Call of the West Museum. Metrobeat will play music at Call of the West and there will be an acoustic performance with wine and cheese at Eamon’s Garage.

However, all the excitement begins on Saturday morning when the parts exchange meeting starts at 9:00 a.m. and lasts until 3:00 p.m. at the Call of the West Museum and Eamon’s Garage at High River Ag.

The Burn Out will also return on Saturday afternoon, but with a new time slot from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the same Center St location. North at 7th Ave South.

Barricades will be deployed in the morning courtesy of Shawnee Excavating, so the area will be closed to traffic for the duration of the event.

All cars undergo a safety inspection before being allowed to participate in the burnout, and the cost is $20 per car. Bring cash.

This year they have also partnered with the Heritage Inn International Balloon Festival, and River City Classics will have their raffle car on site during Friday night’s Balloon Glow.

It’s a 2006 Cooper Mini S convertible and raffle tickets are $20 each or 6 for $100. The drawing will take place on Sunday afternoon at Show N’ Shine at 2:30 p.m. At the same time, prizes will be awarded and the winner of the 50/50 draw will be announced.

Sunday is, of course, the big day for Show N’ Shine, which starts at 10 a.m. and lasts until 4 p.m. Also this year, vehicles will be able to register in two locations, which is also new. Many people will still register at the original location in the CIBC car park, but a table will also be set up in George Lane Park.

The price has also not changed, it is only $20 per vehicle and please bring cash.

And if you want to avoid the hassle of finding parking as the entire city center will be closed to traffic, you can use the free shuttle service in the Co-op’s eastern parking lot.
