Can you put your iPhone into permanent low power mode? Here’s how I do it

Every iPhone user knows this rule – the battery drops to 20% and iOS displays a warning asking if you want to put your iPhone into low power mode. This is a quick setting in iOS that limits some features and prevents others from prioritizing battery life until you find a charger and a power outlet.

Apple introduced this feature with iOS9 to be able to use your iPhone as long as possible. You may be wondering what exactly Low Power Mode is for and if it saves battery, why not keep it on all the time?

Although turning Low Power Mode on permanently is an experiment worth trying if you decide so need to maintain low power mode all the time to get decent iPhone battery performance, it is very likely that the battery will degrade or other problems will occur.

To check your iPhone’s battery health, go to Settings > Battery > Battery status and charging. You’ll see the maximum battery capacity, as well as settings options for optimized battery charging and clean energy charging. If your iPhone’s maximum battery capacity drops to 80% or less, you’ll see an “Important Battery Message” warning. This means that the battery has deteriorated significantly and should be replaced or refurbished by an Apple Authorized Service Provider.
