The UAE values ​​regional, international partnerships in driving energy sector transformation: Suhail Al Mazrouei

Almaty, September 27, 2024 (WAM) – Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, said that the UAE believes in the role of regional and international partnerships in accelerating the transformation of the energy sector.

He added that the UAE continually strives to build strategic relationships with friendly countries and leading global companies in the areas of clean and renewable energy and sustainable technologies to support its efforts in achieving a sustainable future and reducing dependence on traditional energy sources.

The minister made the statements while leading the UAE delegation to the 29th Kazakhstan International Oil and Gas Exhibition and Conference, which ended on Thursday and lasted for two days in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

In his keynote speech at the conference yesterday, the minister highlighted the international partnerships established by the United Arab Emirates, including the agreement signed by the Government of Kazakhstan and Masdar (Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company) on the sidelines of the COP28 conference to build a 1-gigawatt wind energy project in Kazakhstan.

He further added that there is an MoU between the Government of Kazakhstan and the UAE Ministry of Investment to develop 10 gigawatts of low-carbon energy projects, along with other agreements that are in line with the COP28 goal of tripling global renewable energy consumption energy capacity by 2030

He emphasized the UAE’s commitment to balancing industrial development with environmental protection.

“The UAE supports environmental policy and the sustainable development of petrochemical products by relying on more energy-efficient technologies and reducing emissions, ensuring a sustainable future for the industry. In addition to investing in traditional petrochemical products, the UAE is working to integrate renewable energy and sustainable solutions for the petrochemical industry, reflecting the UAE’s future vision for a low-carbon economy and promoting the use of clean energy such as solar and nuclear energy.”
