Hcore Hyundai Steel store is evolving to increase B2C sales

South Korean steelmaker Hyundai Steel is seeking to expand its online sales capabilities through Hcore Store, the company’s e-commerce platform for construction steel products, by diversifying its offerings and introducing services that enhance customer convenience on the platform.

Launched in July 2023, Hcore Store initially focused on promoting Hcore, a Hyundai Steel brand of earthquake-resistant building materials. The platform started with basic construction materials such as rebar, shapes and pipe, but has since expanded to include hot and cold rolled steel.

According to the company, Hcore Store quickly established itself in the market by responding to customer feedback and launching various marketing initiatives. The platform also offers an algorithm-based price matching service, visualized product availability in the region, and detailed pricing information for relevant products.

Hyundai Steel said the initiative reflects the company’s efforts to diversify its business-to-business model by expanding into a business-to-customer approach. To support this change, Hyundai Steel also runs Hcore Solution, a collaborative initiative with small and medium-sized enterprises to develop practical technologies for construction projects. These efforts include optimizing structural design and using low-carbon materials to align with global carbon reduction goals.

In the first half of this year, Hyundai Steel partnered with CJ Logistics to further improve logistics and customer service. This partnership integrates CJ Logistics’ freight shipping system with the Hcore Store, enabling real-time tracking of steel inventories across the country. Customers can now monitor delivery statuses, more easily access transportation costs, and benefit from automatic linking of delivery and pickup information.

Additionally, in August, Hyundai Steel partnered with KB Kookmin Card to launch a corporate card exclusively available to Hcore Store members, aimed at providing customers with greater payment flexibility.

Looking ahead, Hyundai Steel said it plans to further improve Hcore Store by expanding its product range and improving service quality through customer feedback. The company’s goal is also to strengthen links with the construction industry by participating in industry events and promoting broader cooperation.

“Hyundai Steel aims to provide a differentiated steel procurement experience by offering more customer-centric services and will continue to focus on building lasting partnerships in the construction sector,” a Hyundai Steel official said.
