A day after Nasrallah’s killing, Israel eliminates top Hezbollah official Nabil Qaouk

A day after top Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah was killed in an airstrike, the Israeli military said Sunday that it had eliminated another senior Hezbollah official, Nabil Qaouk, in a precision strike.

Qaouk was the commander of Hezbollah’s Preventive Security Unit and a member of its Executive Council.

The IDF announced his elimination on Sunday October and wrote: “ELIMINATED: Commander of Hezbollah’s Preventive Security Unit and member of its Executive Council, Nabil Qaouk, have been eliminated as a result of an IDF precision strike.”

Qaouk, in particular, joined Hezbollah in the 1980s and was considered an important source of expertise in his field.

“Qaouk was close to senior Hezbollah commanders and was directly involved in terrorist attacks against the State of Israel and its citizens. He joined Hezbollah in the 1980s and was considered an important source of expertise in his field, serving as Deputy Commander of the Southern Region on the Operations Council, Commander of the Southern Region and Deputy Commander of the Operations Council,” the IDF further stated.

The Israeli military further stated that it “will continue to strike and eliminate commanders of the Hezbollah terrorist organization” and will act against “anyone who threatens the citizens of the State of Israel.”

Notably, Hezbollah officially confirmed the death of its leader Hassan Nasrallah following Israeli attacks in Beirut.

Hezbollah said Saturday that its leader Nasrallah “joined his co-martyrs.” The group also promised to “continue the holy war against the enemy and support Palestine,” Al Jazeera reported.

On Friday, Israeli forces launched precision attacks on the Lebanese capital of Beirut, which resulted in Nasrallah’s death. Lebanon’s Health Ministry said the airstrikes on Hassan Nasrallah killed civilians, at least six people were killed and dozens were injured.

Following Nasrallah’s death, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a warning to the Ayatollah’s Iranian regime and assured that those who target Israel will face “consequences” and that “no place” in Iran or the Middle East is “beyond Israel’s reach.”

Netanyahu called Nasrallah “the main engine of Iran’s axis of evil” and added: “Nasrallah wasn’t just another terrorist, he was a terrorist. He was the axis of the axis, the main engine of the Iranian axis of evil. He and his men were the architects of the plan to destroy Israel. Not only was it led by Iran, but it was often directed by Iran.”

According to a Jerusalem Post report, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) also eliminated senior Hezbollah intelligence group terrorist Hassan Khalil Yassin in a precision strike in Beirut’s Dahieh neighborhood on Saturday.

United Nations chief Antonio Guterres has expressed concern about rising violence in the Middle East, calling on all parties to immediately end the cycle of violence.

Guterres’ remarks follow Israeli airstrikes in Beirut that led to the death of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.

Sharing a post on X, Guterres wrote: “I am seriously concerned by the dramatic escalation of events in Beirut over the last 24 hours. This cycle of violence must end now. All sides must pull back from the brink.”

“The people of Lebanon, the people of Israel, and the entire region cannot afford total war,” he added.
