The man who emerges when India needs a wicket, Jasprit Bumrah provided his team with their first wicket on day four of the second Test against Bangladesh in Kanpur on Monday. The match resumed after the second and third day’s play was completely ruined due to rain and a wet pitch, with India captain Rohit Sharma putting the ball into Bumrah’s hands, giving the team their fourth Bangladesh wicket. Burmah didn’t have to wait long to draw first blood, removing Mushfiqur Rahim in the third over of the day.

It was one of those typical deliveries from Bumrah that the batsman didn’t read and decided to leave. Thinking it was an outswinger, Rahim decided to let the ball go but soon heard the sound of the ball hitting the stump. A stunned Rahim had no choice but to return to the pavilion.

This was Bumrah’s first wicket of the match with Akash Deep and Ravichandran Ashwin taking two and one wicket respectively.

Action finally resumed in the second Test between India and Bangladesh, which was played in wet weather on Monday for the fourth day after rain and a wet pitch washed out Saturday and Sunday’s matches.

Bangladesh were 107-3 in the first innings as the fourth day began in Kanpur under clear skies with Mominul Haque unbeaten on 40 and Mushfiqur Rahim on 6.

Only 35 overs were played on Friday’s opening day before the umpires dismissed the players due to poor lighting, nine overs after lunch.

India leads the two-match series 1-0 after winning the first match in Chennai by 280 runs.
