Ravi Ahuja Named CEO of Sony Pictures: A New Era Begins: Rediff Moneynews

Sony Pictures Entertainment announces Ravi Ahuja as its new president and CEO, taking over from Tony Vinciquerra. Ahuja brings a wealth of experience from leading entertainment companies.

New Delhi, Oct 1 (PTI) Japan’s Sony Group Corporation and Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) on Tuesday announced the appointment of Ravi Ahuja as president and CEO of SPE with effect from January 2, 2025.

Ahuja, current president of Global Television Studios and president and chief operating officer of SPE, will take over from SPE president and CEO Tony Vinciquerra, who will step down as SPE CEO, the Sony group said in a statement.

He added that Vinciquerra will remain as an advisor to SPE as non-executive chairman until the end of December 2025.

The statement said Ahuja will report to Sony Group Corporation President and CEO Kenichiro Yoshida and Sony Group Corporation President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer Hiroki Totoki.

Ahuja joined SPE in 2021 to oversee all Sony Pictures Television (SPT) production divisions and studio operations in India as president of Global Television Studios.

Since joining SPE, Ahuja has also overseen SPE’s mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activities, including the acquisition of award-winning nonfiction entertainment company Industrial Media, leading UK production company Bad Wolf and VFX company Pixomondo, as well as the sale of GSN Games to Scopely, the group said.

Prior to joining SPE, Ahuja was president of business operations and chief financial officer of Walt Disney Television.

He previously held positions of increasing authority, including chief financial officer, at Fox Networks Group and Virgin Entertainment Group, Inc.

“Since joining SPE in 2021, Ravi has been at the center of Tony’s leadership team, navigating the unprecedented challenges of today’s media and entertainment environment and ensuring SPE continues to thrive,” said Sony Group Corporation Chairman and CEO Kenichiro Yoshida.

He further said, “Ravi brings with him decades of experience from working at some of the most successful entertainment companies in the world, and we look forward to working more closely with him in his new role as president and CEO of SPE.”

Vinciquerra joined SPE in June 2017 and led the company’s transformation, achieving five consecutive years of earnings growth by strengthening SPE’s film offerings, reimagining SPE’s television business, and aggressively pursuing mergers and acquisitions in key growth areas such as anime, with the acquisition Crunchyroll in 2021, the statement said.
