TSA stops 2 guns at Ford Airport in one week

CASCADE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) – Authorities say officers seized two weapons during the week before boarding planes at Gerald R. Ford International Airport.

The Transportation Security Administration said the incidents occurred on Wednesday and Sunday. The TSA reported that during both incidents, airport police were immediately alerted and arrived at the checkpoint.

This year, the TSA reported that 17 firearms were found at checkpoints at Ford Airport. In 2023, 19 firearms were detected at the airport.

“Individuals who possess firearms should familiarize themselves with the laws regarding where they can and cannot carry firearms,” Michigan TSA Federal Security Director Reggie Stephens said in a news release. “As we continue to see an increase in travel, we encourage everyone to be prepared for security checks and not to bring prohibited items, which increases risk and delays for all passengers.”
