Traders demand immediate suspension of e-commerce giants over predatory pricing

The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) and the All India Mobile Retailers’ Association (AIMRA) have demanded urgent action against e-commerce giants Flipkart and Amazon, citing predatory pricing practices and significant tax evasion in a newly released white paper.

The organizations claim that these practices contribute to the creation of a gray zone in the case of mobile phones, causing significant losses in state budget revenues. The white paper also accuses the companies of violating foreign direct investment (FDI) policy and other regulatory frameworks.

AIMRA founder Kailash Lakhyani has called for the suspension of Chinese brands engaged in such activities for at least 1-2 years, saying they do not add any value to the Indian economy. CAIT Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal’s strong statement underlined the need to ensure a level playing field in the retail industry.
