The Michigan DNR asks hunters to check regulations regarding archery for deer

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – Tuesday marked the first day of archery deer season in Marquette.

Michigan DNR spokesman John Pepin says there are new regulations for antlerless deer.

Hunters should check the rule summaries for where they can and cannot hunt antlerless deer. He says hunters can be fined for breaking the regulations and the deer will be confiscated.

Pepin says hunters should think about safety when hunting.

“Always remember to stay safe when you are in the woods,” Pepin said. “It’s always one of those times of the year, especially when you’re hauling a deer, you have to be careful.”

He says to watch out for heat exhaustion and be careful in tree stands. Always let someone know where you are hunting and when you will return.
