Diakon/AmeriCorp Seniors Program Cleans Up the Roads to Peace Garden | News, sports, work

LOCK HAVEN — Volunteers with the Diakon/AmeriCorps Retirement and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) recently rejuvenated an overgrown garden at Roads to Peace in Lock Haven.

Vice President Response Volunteer Paula Bell suggested that a garden makeover would be a good way to beautify the entrance to Roads to Peace so that employees and customers, as well as the community, would appreciate it.

Roads to Peace Executive Director Leah Borow and her staff were thrilled to receive this proposal from local Diakon/AmeriCorps Seniors and are delighted with the completed garden makeover.

The makeover, which includes native perennial pollinator plants, was generously funded by Bell and fellow RSVP volunteer Shonah Hunter.

RSVP volunteers Paul Ballat and Jenny Boyle also contributed to weeding and planting the garden. Ginny Counsil, Penn State Extension master horticulturist, donated two purple hollyhock plants from her personal garden.
