Another Switch emulator appears to have flown to the Mushroom Kingdom after Nintendo allegedly contacted its developer

The Nintendo Switch emulator, Ryujinx, has apparently ceased development and been taken offline after its developer was allegedly contacted by Nintendo itself.

This news comes after the high-profile shutdown of another Switch emulator – on this occasion Yuzu – earlier this year, when Nintendo joined the lawsuit and reached a settlement, which resulted in creator Yuzu agreeing to a settlement that was based on the project ceasing to be thing.

After users noticed that Ryujinx’s Github and download pages started returning error messages, or in the case of the latter, literal blank space, a message was shared on the emulator’s Discord server from a developer with the handle riperiperi that seemingly explains the situation. via Ryujinx’s Twitter account.

“Yesterday, Nintendo contacted gdkchan (Ryujinx’s lead developer) and offered to cease work on the project, remove the organization and all related assets under its control,” the message read: “Pending confirmation of whether it will take over in an agreement, the organization has been removed, so I think it’s safe to say what the outcome will be.”

“The words are mine. I don’t want to speak for anyone else here, so keep that in mind as you read,” riperiperi continued, before giving what appears to be praise for the project. As of this writing, when trying to access the above-mentioned sites, it returns what I described in this paragraph, and the Patreon page and Ryujinx website home page have not been removed.

Both The Verge’s report and Kotaku’s Ethan Gach’s report attempt to contact Nintendo about the matter, which resulted in the console manufacturer refusing to comment and referring them to an ESA (Entertainment Software Association) spokesperson or spokespeople, who stated that they could not ” I don’t speak for Nintendo. In the case of Gacha, the ESA spokesperson also provided a general statement on copyright piracy.
