SolarWinds brings to market a next-generation observability platform with enhanced hybrid IT capabilities

SolarWinds Worldwide LLC, an observability management software and information technology company, today announced the launch of a next-generation observability platform that provides complete visibility across all IT environments.

The new SolarWinds Observability capability builds on the company’s 25 years of network and infrastructure monitoring experience by expanding network, infrastructure and cloud observability to provide customers with value and deployment flexibility. Improvements include broader monitoring of on-premises infrastructure, increased visibility of cloud infrastructure, and improved artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities.

The new release aims to address issues such as visibility and management in distributed hybrid IT environments. SolarWinds says most existing monitoring and observability solutions focus on on-premises or cloud deployments. This forces IT organizations to prioritize each other, creating a visibility gap for organizations still managing hybrid architectures.

SolarWinds’ new Observability solves this problem by giving customers the choice of what to monitor and observe and how to do it in a way that best suits their needs. The enhanced solution delivers broad visibility and AI-powered insights to help customers effectively manage modern IT environments, increase efficiency, ensure agile deployment, and optimize IT costs and resources.

“We believe customers should decide how they monitor and manage their hybrid IT infrastructure, rather than vendors dictating their choices,” said Krishna Sai, senior vice president of technology and engineering at SolarWinds.

New and expanded capabilities of SolarWinds Observability SaaS and Self-Hosted solutions include broader on-premises infrastructure monitoring that allows users to track server components such as throughput and response time. The platform now provides real-time alerts when server resources reach critical thresholds to provide proactive issue management and enhanced visibility of cloud infrastructure, which improves monitoring of Amazon Web Services, Azure and Kubernetes environments.

SolarWinds Observability now provides more comprehensive network performance analysis that allows users to scan, map, and track devices for performance metrics such as latency and throughput. In this way, the service helps identify problems early and supports greater scale for software-defined wide-area networking solutions, including Fortinet and Meraki. What’s more, the vulnerability and risk dashboard now covers more devices, reducing infrastructure costs without sacrificing performance.

On the AI and machine learning side, the platform now offers capabilities including anomaly-based alerts and IT service management integration, which streamlines incident management and reduces alert fatigue.

In addition to the updated SolarWinds Observability announcement, the company announced a new bundled license for its two self-hosted Database Observability products, Database Performance Analyzer and SQL Sentry. Customers can now purchase one license and use it for any product, giving them the flexibility to choose the right solution for their environment.
