NBA executive on Cooper Flagg hype: Keeping an open mind about possible No. 1 pick in the 2025 draft | News, results, highlights, stats and gossip

While Duke freshman Cooper Flagg is widely considered the top draft prospect in college basketball, one NBA executive intends to “keep an open mind about who the No. 1 pick might be.”

“That’s where you make mistakes: anchoring yourself in an opinion and then closing yourself off to new, much more important information that we’ll get in the coming months and see how the season goes,” the executive told ESPN’s Jonathan Givony.

“I need to see if Cooper Flagg is actually a No. 1 offensive option who can be expected to lead the team at some point in his career, or if he is more of a superstar who would be better suited as a second… or third best player Every year they come up surprises happen, new players appear, and others make an unexpected leap.
