Windows 11 24H2 just launched yesterday, and the latest version of Microsoft’s flagship operating system is already facing several issues, especially for gamers. According to Microsoft’s Windows Release Status page, the update has two major known gaming issues: Asphalt 8 occasionally crashes after installing the update, and users running a version of Easy Anti-Cheat released before April 2024 are receiving a BSOD “MEMORY_MANAGEMENT”. mistake.

Due to these issues, system compatibility with these applications is suspended, so you cannot access the 24H2 service via the built-in Windows Update application. Additionally, if you try to update the affected PC using other methods, you will receive a warning that your PC is not ready for the latest version of Windows 11. Microsoft and the relevant developers of the affected applications are working to resolve the issue at this time. However, the company also recommends updating your games in the hope that “the game update also includes a compatible version of Easy Anti-Cheat.”

This is not the first time Microsoft has had problems with automatic updates. The optional KB5043145 Windows 11 Preview update, released a day before Windows 11 24H2, wreaks havoc with reboots and BSODs, forcing it to distribute Known Issue Rollback (KIR) which automatically removes it from affected systems.

These update issues are likely to be a major headache for the Redmond-based company, but are expected to be difficult, if not impossible, to completely avoid. After all, unlike Apple, which only has a handful of hardware configurations to deal with for macOS, there are probably an endless number of system specifications it needs to ensure compatibility with every Windows update and version it releases. Even though Microsoft is trying to mitigate these issues with the Windows Insider program and its over 7 million members, it is still not enough to cover every hardware configuration on the over 400 million Windows 11 devices.

However, we’re still glad that Microsoft recognizes these issues. We expect the company to release a patch for this update in the coming days, so hopefully fans of Asphalt 8 and online multiplayer will be able to get back to gaming with the latest version of Windows 11 on their gaming PCs.
