Koppelmeyer is leaving his position as executive director of the Iredell Arts Council

FROM EMPLOYEE REPORTS

Iredell Arts Council Executive Director John Koppelmeyer has announced his retirement effective November 30. The Management Board informed about this during the meeting on September 17.

Koppelmeyer, honored as the Greater Statesville Chamber of Commerce’s 2023 Citizen of the Year, has been with the Iredell Arts Council for over 11 years, first serving as a board member and board chair. For the past 4.5 years, he has served as executive director, significantly expanding the nonprofit’s offerings and community partnerships.

“I am proud of the achievements we have achieved, from modernizing our performance space to creating the incredibly successful Full Bloom Film Festival, developing our concert and art series, and generating support for local artists and arts organizations,” Koppelmeyer said.

He expressed gratitude to the artists, musicians, volunteers, board members and donors who contributed to the Council’s impact.

“I will cherish these relationships and memories for the rest of my days,” he said.

Koppelmeyer is optimistic about the future of the Iredell Arts Council, which provides grassroots funding to local artists and arts organizations while also hosting concerts, art shows and other community events.

“I am thrilled to be leaving the Iredell Arts Council at a time when it is ready for its next step in growth as a leader in our creative community. I look forward to seeing what the new executive director can do for the Iredell Arts Council and encourage you to stay connected,” he said. “I know I’ll do it.”
