How to find your phone number (iPhone and Android)

Most of us deal with information overload to one degree or another, so it’s not at all surprising that when someone asks us for our phone number, we sometimes leave it blank. After all, most of us don’t give out our numbers or call each other very often, so our phone numbers are usually not the focus of our attention. Some of us use more than one phone – one for work and one for personal use – which makes tracking phone numbers even more difficult.

While we could make a concerted effort to remember our phone number (and some people have an impressive ability to do so without even trying), many of us do not have the time or energy to do so, and even if we did, it would not guarantee that we would find out about it later we won’t forget. Fortunately, we live in a digital age where almost all the information we need, including our phone numbers, is just a few taps, clicks or keystrokes away. Whether you recently changed your Android phone number or need it to fill out a form, you can easily find it on iPhone and Android devices.

How to find your phone number on iPhone

From transferring your Android SIM card to iPhone to updating your contact information with your new carrier, there are many cases where knowing where to find a phone number on your iPhone can be useful. If you own an iPhone, you’ll be happy to know that there are several places your number can be stored on your phone.

Unfortunately, in locations such as My Card, where you enter the phone number manually, if you transpose at least one number, the information will not be correct. Therefore, it will be best to check the phone number in the Settings app, which comes directly from the SIM card, to get the most accurate information. Follow these steps to use the Settings app and find your phone number:

  1. Tap the gear-shaped icon on your iPhone’s home screen to open the Settings app.
  2. Scroll down and tap Phone.
  3. If you have one SIM card, you will see your phone number next to My number.
  4. If you’re using two SIM cards, tap My Number, then select Primary or Secondary.

If you know you’ve entered the correct information on the My Card page, you can check your phone number there by going to Phone > Contacts > My Card. Another way to find your phone number is to ask Siri, “What’s my phone number?” If your card information is up to date, the voice assistant will display a card with all your phone numbers.

How to find your phone number on Android

While there is a uniform method to look up a phone number on iPhone, in the case of Android, things can sometimes get a bit complicated due to the different skins that Android manufacturers use to customize the user interface. For example, phone numbers may be in different areas on your Google Pixel 9 and Samsung device.

Still, on most phones you can usually find them in the Phone app, network, carrier or SIM settings. The good news is that on newer Android devices, you can reliably find your phone number in the About phone section. Follow these steps to find your phone number in the Settings app:

  1. Swipe down (once or twice) from the top of the screen.
  2. Click the gear icon at the bottom of the screen to open settings.
  3. Scroll down and tap About phone.

After completing these steps, your phone number will be displayed under Phone number or SIM card status. If your phone is set up in a dual SIM configuration, both numbers will be displayed.
