Google Maps can show you real-time notifications about fog and flooding along your route. Here’s how it will work

However, one feature that will probably impact the lives of Indian users more than anything else is the availability of real-time alerts on your route for areas of poor visibility due to fog and rain, as well as flooded areas. This can be especially useful for travelers who are used to using Google Maps for their daily commute.

Google Maps gets smarter with Gemini AI:

Google Maps also uses artificial intelligence to help users discover and rate places of interest with its new “helpful reviews” feature. The new feature, which will launch later this month, will show users summarized restaurant reviews using Gemini’s artificial intelligence capabilities. Google says these summaries will help users understand what people are saying about a restaurant without having to read all the reviews, and thus help Google Maps users decide which restaurant to go to.

Additionally, Google Maps now allows users to search not only for places, but also for specific items and attractions, such as themed birthday cakes and unique picnic spots. The new feature works with the Gemini-powered image recognition algorithm, which analyzes billions of images shared by the Google Maps community to provide relevant and first-class photos.

In another related update, Google also announced that the AI overview feature, which allows users to get a summary of search results, is now available in Telugu, Tamil, Bengali and Marathi languages. Earlier, this feature was only available in English and Hindi in India.
