Oppo Reno 12 Pro Manish Malhotra Edition review: Adding style without breaking the bank

Oppo recently launched the Reno 12 Pro Manish Malhotra edition in an effort to make the ‘AI phone’ stand out in the upcoming festival season. But do the new design changes justify paying the premium for a special edition phone?

Unpacking:

The Manish Malhotra Edition Reno 12 Pro comes in a black box with a gold embroidered floral pattern with bold 12 script and Oppo and Manish Malhotra logos on the bottom. Inside the box, you are immediately greeted by a black leaflet reminding you that this is a special edition phone.

In addition, the set includes the phone itself, a plastic case, some documents, an 80 W SUPERVOOC charger and a gold SIM card removal tool.

Design and aesthetics:

The back of the Reno 12 Pro Manish Malhotra Edition has the same design elements as the box, with a beautiful gold floral pattern running from top to bottom, while the matte black background only serves to highlight the look.

In between the floral design are the Manish Malhotra and Oppo brands, but otherwise there’s no noticeable difference between this phone and the regular Reno 12 Pro.

When you turn on the phone, you are immediately greeted by a golden background with the same floral embroidery. Unfortunately, there are no themes, widgets, or other wallpapers to keep the special edition torch burning.

On the software side, you get the same AI features as the Reno 12 Pro, including AI Eraser, AI Summary, AI Speak and AI Translator (for browsers), AI Studio, AI Perfect Shot, AI Best Face and BeaconLink (for creating phone calls using Bluetooth technology). You will learn all this and more in our full Oppo Reno 12 Pro review.

Verdict:

Oppo Reno 12 Pro Manish Malhotra version is priced at approx 37,999 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant, which makes it only Bonus 1000 for the standard variant.

So is it worth paying a little more? The Manish Malhotra Edition could be a great option for anyone who has already decided to purchase the Reno 12 Pro and likes that their phone stands out from the rest without going overboard.
