BEIRUT, October 5. /TASS/. At least 20 Israeli soldiers were killed or injured in clashes with Hezbollah members in southern Lebanon, an official spokesman for the Shiite organization said on Telegram.

According to the statement, Shiite militiamen planted explosives along the enemy’s planned route and then blew them up from a long distance.

“Our units also opened fire on enemy forces using small arms and grenade launchers and forced them to retreat towards the border,” the spokesman said.

In response, Israeli troops began shelling Lebanese territory, using the fire as cover for an airstrike to evacuate victims.
