New law regulating kennels named after mauled dog in East Longmeadow

EAST LONGMEADOW — Owners of dog kennels and boarding facilities must face new animal safety regulations. The incident comes four years after a puppy named Ollie was mauled and killed by other dogs at Pampered Pets Doggy Day Care and Spa in East Longmeadow. After the attack, the company was closed.

For years, Amy Baxter, Ollie’s owner, has pushed for the introduction of “Ollie’s Law.” Late last month, Gov. Maura T. Healey signed the bill into law.
