The Land Transport Authority reminds vehicle owners and enthusiasts to comply with legal requirements regarding vehicle modifications.

He adds that while modifications may improve the vehicle’s performance and appearance, they require prior written approval from the LTA to ensure their safety and compliance with regulatory standards.

Rokosawa encourages all vehicle owners to follow procedures to avoid penalties, fines or, worse still, endangering the lives of others.

It says those who modify their vehicles without complying with the requirements set out in Section 38 of the Land Transport (Registration and Construction of Vehicles) Regulations 2000 could face heavy fines.

Individual violators face a fixed penalty of $75, with a maximum penalty of $1,000 or up to six months in prison, while companies face a fixed penalty of $300, also with a maximum penalty of $2,000 or up to 12 months in prison.
