Human capital: ETSA 2024 | For startups, the right talent is human capital, not just human resources: Lenskart CEO Peyush Bansal

“Human resources is not just a resource, but human capital,” said Lenskart co-founder and CEO Peyush Bansal, confirming the dramatic shift in talent density over the past 10 years.

“If I look back over the last 10 years, maintaining a very high level of talent is becoming more and more difficult. Hiring talent and retaining them means you improve your skills every time,” Peyush said.

Discussing the role of workplace culture in shaping a startup’s growth trajectory, he said, “If you build the right culture and find a way to attract and retain top talent, anything can happen.”

In bringing startups to the global stage, a key responsibility lies on the talent side and “this is a milestone that India needs to cross,” he added.

Bansal was part of a panel discussion at the Economic Times Startup Awards (ETSA) 2024. The panelists shared insights on the trends shaping the next decade of Indian startups and how companies can stay ahead of the curve.
