Meesho sees 40% increase in orders during festival sales: Rediff Moneynews

SoftBank-backed Meesho sees a 40% increase in total orders during its annual festival sale. The e-commerce platform also saw an increase in customer visits and app downloads, with significant growth across product categories.

New Delhi, Oct 7 (PTI) SoftBank-backed e-commerce firm Meesho on Monday said it recorded a 40 per cent year-on-year growth in total orders during its recent annual festival sale.

The e-commerce company claims to have recorded 145 billion customer visits during the 10-day period of its ‘Meesho Mega Blockbuster Sale 2024’.

“During our mega blockbuster sale this year, we achieved over 40 percent increase in orders, exceeding industry expectations. With approximately 3 crore app downloads and a 45% growth in new e-commerce users, we are strengthening our commitment to make e-commerce accessible and affordable to millions across the country,” said Milan Partani, General Manager, User Development, Meesho.

Meesho’s flagship sale ran from September 27 to October 6, 2024.

“The company has experienced impressive growth in demand this year, with total orders up more than 40 percent compared to last year,” the statement read.

The company said it saw around 45 per cent of all customer visits from tier four cities.

“During the sale, the company reached out to customers in remote locations such as Ranaghat (West Bengal), Neyyattinkara (Kerala), Bhadohi (Uttar Pradesh), Sangareddy (Telangana), Sivasagar (Assam), Jaynagar (Bihar) and Naugarh (Uttarakhand), and also in major metro cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru,” the statement said.

Meesho said the number of prepaid orders on its platform increased by 117 percent, reflecting a significant shift in customer preferences towards digital payment options at Tier 2 and beyond.

“Home & Kitchen (segment) saw a remarkable 105% year-on-year growth, beauty & personal care grew 60% and baby & baby products grew 75%,” the statement said.

The company claimed that orders have doubled at Meesho Mall, which has branded products.
