Apple recently released iOS 18.0.1 and we recommend that you update your iPhone as soon as possible as the update includes important bug fixes and security fixes.

Bug fixes

According to Apple’s update release notes, iOS 18.0.1 fixes display and camera bugs on iPhone 16 models and several other issues:

– In some circumstances, the touch screen may become temporarily unresponsive on iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models
– Camera may freeze when recording Macro video with Ultra Wide Camera in 4K resolution with HDR disabled on iPhone 16 Pro models
– Messages may stop working unexpectedly when you reply to a message using a shared Apple Watch face
– Performance may be affected by memory allocation issue on some iPhone models

Security fixes

In line with Apple’s security update notes, iOS 18.0.1 patches several security vulnerabilities in the Messages and Passwords app:

Media session
Available for: iPhone 16 (all models)

Impact: Audio messages in Messages may record several seconds of audio before the microphone indicator turns on

Description: This issue was addressed with improved controls.

Passwords
Available for: iPhone XS and later, iPad Pro 13-inch, iPad Pro 12.9-inch 3rd generation and later, iPad Pro 11-inch 1st generation and later, iPad Air 3rd generation and later, iPad 7th generation and later newer and iPad mini 5th generation and newer

Impact: Saved user passwords may be read aloud by VoiceOver

Description: A logic issue was addressed with improved validation.
