Whitchurch farm raises awareness of breast cancer cause

HJ Lea Oakes Ltd, which produces and supplies feed for all categories of livestock, is joining the awareness challenge alongside Breast Cancer Now, a leading research and support charity.

To date, the charity has invested £299 million in research and is currently funding more than 100 cutting-edge projects aimed at discovering how to prevent breast cancer, save lives and help people live well with and at beyond illness.

Last October, HJ Lea Oakes launched its own pink cattle and sheep feed bag.

Rearer 17 Nut and Lamb Starter and Finish Pellets will be available in the new packaging to their wholesale and retail customers, with 5,000 bags delivered to farms and retail outlets.

For every bag sold, HJ Lea Oakes Ltd will donate £1 to Breast Cancer Now.

Truck drivers also wear high-visibility pink vests when delivering bulk and bagged food.

And HJ Lea Oakes Ltd will also host a “Wear it Pink” day on October 18, raising additional funds while promoting the charity.

Staff will wear their best pink outfits and compete for the best dressed department award, while indulging in some treats from their office cake sale. Details of all fundraisers can be followed on their Facebook and Instagram pages.

Anna Goodwin, Commercial Director, said: “We are proud to support Breast Cancer Now to raise awareness throughout the month. We have seen the enthusiasm of customers and staff to participate, and we can’t wait to see the pink bag display on the farm and in store.
