Balu Forge Industries Ltd expands forging capacity with recent acquisition

Mumbai (Maharashtra): Balu Forge Industries Ltd takes one more step to achieve one of its major milestones. As part of its broader mission to be one of the world’s leading players in the critical value-added forging and engineering segment, we are pleased to announce that Balu Forge Industries Ltd has undertaken significant expansion, establishing an advanced forging capacity with a capacity of 72,000 tonnes per annum. In addition to increasing productivity, this significantly enhances our R&D capabilities and is consistent with our vision and business plan to move away from a purely forging company and become a value-added specialist critical engineering products company.

Balu Forge Industries Limited (BFIL), a leading precision engineering company engaged in the production of crankshafts and forged components, is pleased to announce the successful acquisition of three forging lines combined with hammers and presses capable of producing 72,000 tons of heavy-duty forged products per annum. These newly acquired forging lines will integrate seamlessly with the precision engineering developments taking place at our upcoming manufacturing campus in Belagavi, Karnataka, thereby making BFIL an integrated end-to-end solutions provider of advanced machining solutions for key industries viz. .Railways, defense, oil and gas, mining, aerospace, aluminum and other critical precision industries around the world.

BFIL is pleased to announce the recent acquisition of three state-of-the-art forging production lines, with a production capacity of 72,000 tons of forged products. This comprehensive configuration includes a 16-ton drop forging hammer with a capacity of 10 tons, a mechanical press with a lifting capacity of 8,000 tons. This configuration will be fully automated thanks to the latest technology PRESS LINE WITH ANTI-VIBRATION SYSTEM WITH ROBOTIC COMPLEXES FOR HANDLING WITH THE INDUSTRY 4.0 MODEL. will be installed in our upcoming greenfield project in Belagavi, Karnataka.

The new forging unit will be seamlessly integrated with the recently acquired Mercedes Benz precision machining unit. This will further strengthen our product engineering and expand our precision product offerings to global critical engineering and safety component majors, offering end-to-end solutions under one roof.

This forging unit includes a 16-ton closed die forging hammer, one of the largest in the country and capable of producing forgings weighing up to 800-900 kg. This capacity will be further enhanced by a line of 10-ton closed die forging hammers and an 8,000-ton mechanical forging press. With these facilities, we are expanding our presence in key engineering industries, including oil and gas, aerospace, defense, railways, mining, aluminum and automotive parts manufacturing, and many other critical industries.

This acquisition not only strengthens and expands our portfolio of key engineering products, but also increases our research and development capabilities in alloy blending and metal combinations. This provides us with unique strength in creating products from a variety of aluminum and titanium-based alloys, which will enable BIFL to expand its product offerings into major growth industries for key engineering products and continue to capture the OEM market we serve in North America, Europe, Asia and the regions Middle East.

Advantages of becoming a fully integrated precision machining and forging company

This strategic integration of precision/specialty engineering and forging will not only result in increased margins, but also increased R&D capabilities for end-to-end needs and solutions for a significant global clientele. In addition to production capacity, the new plant, once commercialized, will create large-scale employment opportunities in the area and empower local communities around the plant. The team strength is expected to reach over 1,000 employees (including contract workers), growing steadily from 375 in FY23 to 525 currently
