Gazprom is seeking an intergovernmental solution to the EU antitrust allegations

BRUSSELS (Reuters) – Russian gas giant Gazprom (GAZP.MM) rejected antitrust allegations leveled against it by the European Union on Wednesday and said it hoped the matter would be resolved through agreements between the EU and the Russian government.

“Gazprom considers the European Commission’s objections to be groundless,” it said in a statement, emphasizing that its pricing and other policies are in line with the legislation.

“Gazprom expects this situation to be resolved within the framework of the agreement previously reached between the Government of the Russian Federation and the European Commission to find an acceptable solution to the antitrust investigation at the intergovernmental level.”
