NOPD releases video showing a driver striking a parked car before allegedly driving away

The driver exited the vehicle, inspected the damage, and then allegedly drove away without leaving any information.

NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Police Department released video Wednesday from a RING doorbell camera that shows a man crashing his vehicle into a parked sedan before allegedly driving away in the Lower Garden neighborhood earlier this month.

According to NOPD, the incident occurred on Saturday, May 4 near the intersection of Constance Street and Jackson Avenue.

The video shows a red Ford Edge hitting a parked red sedan at 15 seconds after swerving to avoid hitting the back of a white SUV that was stopped due to traffic.

Police believe the front of the suspect’s vehicle may still have damage to the passenger side. The vehicle also has silver trim on the fenders above the tires, and the black bumper is faded. There is no year or registration number associated with the vehicle.

NOPD described the driver as a black male wearing all black.

Police are asking anyone with information about the identity of the suspect or the location of the vehicle to call the NOPD Traffic Division’s Crash Victims Unit at 504-658-6211.
