Southern Power expands Millers branch in Texas

Southern Power plans to expand its 29th solar project, the Millers Branch Solar Facility located in Haskell County, Texas.

The Phase II expansion represents an additional 180 MW over the current 200 MW Phase I facility, which is nearing construction.

“We are excited to announce the expansion of our solar facility at the Millers Branch,” says Robin Boren, president of Southern Power.

“This 180 MW renewable energy expansion provides a clean, innovative solution that helps a diverse group of customers make significant progress towards their own sustainability goals. This is another example of how Southern Power is building the future of energy and meeting the evolving needs of our customers and communities.”

Southern Power will lead the continued development and construction of both phases of Millers Branch. Phase II is expected to reach commercial operation in 2026.

Cisco, Juniper Networks, IDEXX Laboratories, Cadence, Bio-Rad and PTC, with the support of the Sustainability Roundtable and collectively as members of the Net Zero Consortium for Buyers, have signed PPAs with Southern Power for all environmental attributes generated in Phase II of the installation photovoltaic.
