3 key acquisitions RCB must make in the IPL 2025 mega auction

Royal Challengers Bengaluru should be happy with the season they have played. They were eliminated from the race at the very beginning, and a good finish meant they could advance to the play-offs. Now the focus will turn to the future. The franchise will try to make the most of the next auctions. Here, we take a look at the list of three key acquisitions that RCB must make in the IPL 2025 Mega Auction.

1) Top-class left-handed middle-order batsman

This aspect has been missing from RCB for the last few years. Mahipal Lomror was there but was used more as a performer. Either way, he wasn’t right for the role.

Therefore, RCB needs to pick a solid left-hander who can come in at No. 4 or No. 5. This would help the team when it comes to matchups, especially against left-arm spinners.

2) High-quality leg spinner

Wanindu Hasaranga is a player RCB may look at again in the future. A quality leg spinner is a must for the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Karn Sharma tried his best, but he is a veteran and may not be the ideal choice for the future.

Even a youngster like Mayank Markhande should do the job for RCB. This would help the team diversify their bowling attack.

3) A goalkeeper who can hit the ball in the lower middle order

A wicketkeeper who can bat in the lower middle order is one of the key acquisitions that RCB needs to make in the mega auction of IPL 2025. Basically, RCB needs to replace Dinesh Karthik, which is extremely difficult in the current market.

Some of the available options are Dhruv Jurel and Jitesh Sharma. Both had inconsistent seasons in IPL 2024. Players like Tristan Stubbs and Nicholas Pooran may not be available. Therefore, RCB has an increasingly difficult task in the upcoming auctions to find DK’s successor.
