Italian antitrust authority recalculates Apple and Amazon fines after ‘material error’

ROME (Reuters) – Italy’s antitrust authority said on Thursday it had recalculated fines for U.S. tech giants Apple and Amazon due to a “material error” in the first calculation.

Fines now total 114.7 million euros ($130.04 million) for Apple and 58.6 million euros for Amazon, up from 134.5 million euros and 68.7 million euros respectively, the watchdog said in a statement.

Authorities said in November that they had fined both groups for allegedly engaging in anticompetitive cooperation in selling Apple and Beats products.
