Mondelez imposed a fine of EUR 365.7 million on the EU for restrictions on cross-border trade

BRUSSELS (Reuters) – Oreo maker Mondelez International was fined 337.5 million euros ($365.72 million) by EU antitrust regulators on Thursday for obstructing cross-border trade in chocolate, cookies and coffee products between EU countries.

The European Commission found that Mondelez abused its dominant position by violating EU antitrust rules.

“Mondelez’s illegal practices prevented retailers from freely sourcing products in Member States at lower prices and artificially divided the internal market,” the EU’s competition law enforcement body said in a statement.
