The United States files a major antitrust lawsuit against ticket owner Live Nation

The U.S. Department of Justice filed a major antitrust lawsuit on Thursday, seeking to break up the monopoly of Live Nation Entertainment and its subsidiary Ticketmaster in the live music industry.

The lawsuit, filed in federal court in New York, alleges that Live Nation abused its dominant position in the market to raise ticket prices, drive out competition and limit choice for fans, venues and artists.
