Little Snitch 6.0 Released, Offering Enhanced DNS Encryption, Easier Network Visualization, and Other New Features

One of the coolest shareware programs just got a solid update.

Little Snitch, which monitors Mac network traffic for suspicious activity, has reached version 6.0 and continues to focus on easily blacklisting and whitelisting apps and services, and offers the following new fixes and features:

  • DNS Encryption: Let Little Snitch encrypt server name queries to protect your online activities from prying eyes.
  • Integrated Blocklists: Easily choose from a curated list of blocklists. Install them with one click to add an extra layer of protection against unwanted connections.
  • Control Center in the Menu Bar: Quickly access your most important network information, recent activity graphs, and recently blocked connections, right from the menu bar.
  • Hierarchical connection grouping: Group connections by application, domain, server or country to gain deeper insight into network traffic.
  • Advanced search and filters: Quickly locate specific connections or firewall rules with enhanced search capabilities.
  • Usage Statistics: Track and optimize your firewall rules based on usage frequency.
  • Audio Notifications: Stay up to date with online activity with customizable audio notifications by simply listening. Make your calls not only visible, but also audible!
  • Rule Groups: Organize your firewall rules by topic to conveniently enable or disable related rules together.
  • Improved web application support: Get better and more precise control over external connections initiated by websites.
  • Improved firewall rules: Use of cryptographic code signing IDs to better identify processes that are resistant to renaming or application relocation.
  • Improved Xcode Simulator Support: Enjoy smoother development with improved process support in Xcode Simulator.

Little Snitch 6 costs $59 for a one-time fee and is also available as a $39 upgrade for existing users. Users who purchased a license earlier this year can download the update for free.
