Virginia Attorney General Announces Antitrust Lawsuit Against Live Nation and Ticketmaster

RICHMOND, VA (CVILLE NOW) – Virginia is among 30 states and the federal government filing a lawsuit against Live Nation and Ticketmaster alleging antitrust violations. State Attorney General Jason Miyares claims that Live Nation and Ticketmaster’s “dominance over the live entertainment industry has harmed artists, venues and small businesses, leaving consumers with fewer choices and exorbitant fees.”

U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland, announcing the lawsuit in Washington, said: “We allege that Live Nation has illegally monopolized the concert industry markets in the United States for far too long. It’s time to break it up.”
Miyares says, “Virginia consumers and businesses deserve a free market for products, services and ideas, and breaking away from Ticketmaster and Live Nation will allow competition and innovation to return to the live entertainment industry.”
