Demand is driving the expansion of Simpson Millar’s clinical negligence team

National consumer law firm Simpson Millar has strengthened its clinical negligence team in Manchester with the addition of five new colleagues. This extension is in response to increased demand from customers across the UK who have suffered harm or injury as a result of medical negligence, including birth injuries, surgical errors and delayed diagnosis.

New team members:

Paul Cain, solicitor (Manchester)

  • He specializes in high value claims arising from surgical errors, amputations and delayed diagnosis of strokes and cancers.
  • Extensive experience in supporting clients affected by rogue surgeon Ian Paterson.
  • Cauda Equina trauma specialist.

Claire Levene, solicitor (Bristol)

  • He has over 20 years of experience in the field of clinical negligence.
  • Member of the Law Society’s specialist clinical negligence panel.
  • He focuses on birth injuries and complex surgical negligence cases.

Lauren Bayliff, Legal Director (Manchester)

  • Currently taking CILEX exams.
  • He brings significant experience in supporting clients in claims processes.

Emma Hickey, Chartered Lawyer (Liverpool)

  • He has over 10 years of experience in the field of clinical negligence.
  • He will manage his own caseload supporting clients in Liverpool.

Emily Roberts, Newly Qualified Solicitor (Manchester)

  • She completed her training contract with Simpson Millar in October 2023.
  • He has experience in preparing medico-legal opinions on cancer cases.
