Leading antitrust regulators to speak at the 6th annual EU Competition Law Conference at Crowell & Moring and King’s College London in Brussels

BRUSSELS, May 23, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — Senior antitrust regulators from the European Commission, the UK Competition and Markets Authority and the US Department of Justice will join industry leaders and academia for in-depth discussions at Crowell & Moring and Royal College The sixth annual EU competition law conference in London on 11 June at TheMerode in Brussels.

The full-day event will focus on a transatlantic perspective on current antitrust developments in a range of areas, such as cooperation between competitors, merger control and state aid. The session will also discuss key law enforcement trends in relation to digital markets and artificial intelligence, as well as the European Commission’s increased scrutiny of complex cross-border M&A transactions.

David Lawrence, director of policy in the DOJ’s Antitrust Division, will deliver the keynote address. Throughout the day, panelists will include Lucia Bonova, Head of Unit in DG Competition at the European Commission; Lucilia Falsarella Pereira, Senior Director of Competition Enforcement, Competition and Markets Authority; Andrea Usai, case manager, DG Competition, European Commission; and Annemiek Wilpshaar, Head of Unit, DG Competition, European Commission.

Panels include:

  • Collaboration between competitors in the digital and green economy: competitive risks from artificial intelligence, sustainability agreements, no-poaching agreements and employment contracts;
  • Developments in the control of state aid and (foreign) subsidies: how to level the playing field in the new geopolitical environment;
  • Merger control changes: increased merger control, new US guidelines, notice of revised market definition, international convergence/divergence; AND
  • Fireside chat: The future direction of regulatory enforcement, with a focus on digital solutions, artificial intelligence and practical implications for regulators and companies.
