After Congress debacle in Haryana, Digvijaya Singh raises questions on EVMs

In Haryana, the Congress won 76 of the 90 seats during the counting of postal ballots.

However, the party’s number of seats fell to 37 during the counting of votes recorded by the EVMs, he said.

The Congress leader said propaganda was being carried out against the Muslim population in the country.

“You can see the population figures (of the last few decades). The Muslim population in the country is declining faster than that of Hindus,” the former MP chief minister said.

He also advocated a caste census and socio-economic survey in the country.

These steps will provide accurate information about the socio-economic backwardness of various castes and sub-castes.

Based on this information, plans for their development could be drawn up, he said.

Responding to a question, Singh said he agreed with the demand for ‘Bharat Ratna’, the country’s highest civilian honour, for industrialist and philanthropist Ratan Tata, who died on Wednesday.

Singh also said that it was not possible to implement the concept of ‘one nation, one election’ in India’s current parliamentary politics.
