Van Oord installs the first single-pile foundation on a North Sea wind farm

NETHERLANDS — Using KENC Engineering’s specially designed Flanged Monopole Lifting Tool (FMUT), Van Oord installed the first monopile foundation on an offshore wind farm in the UK.

Van Oord will install 100 monopile foundations at this North Sea location in the coming months.

In the first quarter of 2023, Van Oord commissioned KENC Engineering to design and build the FMUT. The tool has been designed to enable efficient lifting and lifting of monopiles and can handle monopiles weighing up to 1,600 tonnes.

Earlier this week, Van Oord’s Aeolian The vessel installed the first of 100 monopile foundations at the RWE Sofia wind farm in the south of the UK in the North Sea.
