The Colombian government launches a solar-powered hybrid power plant in Casuarito, increasing access to energy for 239 families

The Institute for the Planning and Promotion of Energy Solutions (IPSE) and the Colombian Ministry of Mines and Energy announced the inauguration of a hybrid power plant in Casuarito, a municipality of Puerto Carreño in the state of Vichada. This new facility combines solar panels, batteries and a hybrid diesel backup system, extending energy hours for 239 families in the region.

The energy project, detailed in a recent statement, includes the installation of 810 solar panels with a total generating capacity of 372.6 KWp, 154 energy batteries with a total capacity of 1,182.72 kWh, a backup diesel generator with a capacity of 132 KW and extensive distribution networks.

The total investment for the project is approximately 6,190 million Colombian pesos ($1.6 million).

“With a completely public investment, in cooperation with IPSE, we inaugurated the Casuarito hybrid power plant. This project allows us to extend energy supply hours for 239 families in this unconnected area,” said Energy Minister Andrés Camacho.
