In the first quarter, 96% of Europeans shopped online

At least 95.8 percent of European consumers made purchases online in the first quarter of this year. In the UK the figure was 93%. In the Netherlands, 96 percent of consumers shopped online.

This data comes from the recently published Consumer Insight Report from AliExpress. More than 8,500 consumers from France, Germany, Spain, the UK and the Netherlands were surveyed on the online platform. In the first quarter of this year, a consumer survey was conducted on their online shopping habits.

63% of UK consumers spent €100-500

According to the report, 63 percent of UK consumers spent an average of between €100 and €500 online in the first quarter. The remaining 37 percent spent less than €100 during this period. Looking at consumers in the Netherlands, 75 percent spent more than €100.

The most popular online shopping category was fashion. In the UK, Generation Z and millennials spent the most in this category. This observation shows that British consumers like to follow the latest fashion trends.

35% spent more than 5 hours a week shopping online

When it comes to time spent searching for products online, 35 percent of European consumers spend more than five hours a week doing so. And 50 percent of consumers spend one to four hours a week doing so.
