A tender has been announced asking financial management specialists to express their interest in supporting the African Development Bank’s flagship project Desert to power an initiative implemented by the Ecowas Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE).

The Desert-to-Power initiative, which was launched in 2018, aims to deploy 10 GW of solar PV installations in 11 countries by 2030, providing access to approximately 250 million people through a combination of on-grid and off-grid solutions. The first phase of the program targets Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria and Senegal.

ECREEE is seeking a Financial Management Specialist to support two elements of the Desert-to-Power initiative. The first is the initial phase of the West Africa Regional Energy Program, which will support regional capacity building and develop a regional mini-grid program, along with a certification program aimed at mass training of technicians, artisans and stakeholders.

The second component is the Sahel Regional Technical Assistance Program, which aims to enable solar energy projects in the Sahel region while generating private sector investment in grid and mini-grid installations.

The selected Financial Management Specialist will work across both components, taking responsibility for budgeting, accounting, implementing internal controls, financial reporting and project financial management. Further responsibilities are set out in tender document.

Potential consultants are asked to submit applications via e-mail by June 19.
