Q-SYS announces key executive appointments in Europe and APAC

Q-SYS, a division of QSC, has announced significant leadership changes as part of its strategic expansion in key regions.

Rob Sherry has been appointed regional director for Northern and Eastern Europe and managing director for the UK and Ireland. At the same time, Duncan Savage will become vice president and general manager for the Asia-Pacific region.

Sherry joined Q-SYS in September 2020 as Sales Manager and was recently promoted to Sales Director. As Regional Director, he will oversee operations in Northern and Eastern Europe, leading the UK team through the next phase of growth.

“Rob’s experience of leading an ever-expanding sales team and growing the UK business positions him well to lead the UK team to a new stage of maturity,” he said Markus Winkler, Executive Vice President EMEA and APAC at Q-SYS.

“I look forward to continuing to grow our UK business under Rob’s leadership.

Sherry expressed his enthusiasm for his new role, stating: “I am delighted to have the opportunity to lead the UK team and continue to grow the business.

“Q-SYS has enormous potential, and we still have a lot to discover. As we continue to grow and evolve as a platform solution, I look forward to leading our incredible team to expand the horizons of what can be achieved in our industry.

At the same time, Duncan Savage takes over the running of the Asia Pacific business, joining the team as UK Managing Director in 2017.

On Savage’s promotion, Winkler said: “Duncan brings with him almost two decades of experience in the AV industry and a wealth of knowledge gained from his work in the European market.

“His experience and expertise will be invaluable in organizing and leading local teams. I look forward to continuing to grow our business in the APAC region under his leadership.”

QSC said the appointments demonstrate its commitment to further expansion in European and Asian markets.

The company has also made a number of announcements in recent months, largely based on partnerships with key players in the collaboration space.

In March, Q-SYS launched the Q-SYS Control for Zoom Rooms app, enabling integrators and IT end users to integrate third-party room control systems with supported Zoom Rooms controller consoles.

This application enhances existing Zoom Rooms controllers by displaying the Q-SYS user control interface, allowing you to easily control room devices such as displays, lighting, blinds, and HVAC systems connected to the Q-SYS Core processor.

Using the Q-SYS control engine, users can create personalized two-way controls based on feedback directly from the Zoom Rooms interface. Additionally, the app facilitates integration with the Q-SYS technology ecosystem partner program, improving the overall Zoom experience for end users.

In December, Q-SYS presented the certified Q-SYS UC computing suite for Microsoft Teams Rooms.

The suite simplifies the design, procurement and implementation of solutions for high-impact spaces.

Developed in partnership with Lenovo, the UC Compute Bundle includes the Lenovo ThinkSmart Core processor and ThinkSmart controller for Teams Rooms.

Integration with Q-SYS Certified for Teams devices allows you to create customized Microsoft Teams Rooms solutions. Additionally, the “Q-SYS Control for Microsoft Teams Rooms” application enables the integration of room environment control with Teams control.

Meanwhile, in November, Q-SYS introduced what it claims is the first certified Microsoft Teams solution for Microsoft Teams Rooms that supports surround sound.

The solution includes Teams-certified Q-SYS Core processors, SPA Series amplifiers, AcousticDesign Series surface-mount speakers, and a Sennheiser TeamConnect Ceiling 2 (TCC2) beamforming microphone array.

This innovative offering delivers crystal-clear surround sound during meetings, with voices emerging from their relative positions on the screen of Signature Teams rooms.
