Pokémon TCG Rare Candy | SNKRDUNK Magazine

Rare Pokémon TCG candy

When the third-generation Pokémon TCG set Miracle of the Desert introduced the Rare Candy card back in 2003, it was a real game changer. This card allowed the player to evolve any of the player’s Pokémon at any time, including the first turn, and in some cases even skip evolving the Stage 1 Pokémon entirely, going straight to Stage 2. Although this card has since been nerfed, it nonetheless remains a staple in many decks Pokémon TCG tournaments.

Of the dozens of versions of this card that have been released since its debut 21 years and six generations ago, one of the most desired is the Ultra Rare (UR) version from Violet ex (SV1V). Like all other UR cards, this particular Rare Candy card has gold holofoil and border, which gives the card a sense of prestige and exclusivity.

The rare candy itself also has a gold frame. This not only fits the overall design and aesthetic of the card; it also highlights the enormous power of this card.

The Violet ex (SV1V) Rare Candy version is only the third in Pokémon TCG history to be a UR rare. The previous two appeared in Megalo Cannon (BW9) in 2013 and then in Sun & Moon (SM1+) in 2017. There is no telling how long it will be before the next UR Rare Candy card appears, increasing demand for this card.

In English, this card is card 256/198 in the Scarlet & Violet (SV1) set.

A copy of the Rare Candy card (Violet ex (SV1V) 107/078) costs ¥4,000 (~$25).
