Festo will use the PLCnext controller from Phoenix Contact in intelligent devices

On April 24, Festo announced that it will use Phoenix Contact’s PLCnext open ecosystem technology in smart devices it plans to bring to market by the end of this year. He adds that the PLCnext integration will enable Festo and its customers opportunities in three areas:

Openness and flexibility because PLCnext is based on an open architecture that allows you to create individual solutions and seamless system integration. This will enable Festo to offer automation tailored to specific customer requirements.

Taking advantage of synergies combining the know-how of Phoenix Contact and Festo to enable cost-effective collaboration and address future technological challenges such as cybersecurity.

Innovation and future profitability because combining Festo’s automation expertise with PLCnext also promises to enable Industry 4.0 innovations and jointly address the challenges of digital transformation and IT/OT convergence.

“Together with Festo, we will continue to work to generate new solutions for our customers,” says Frank Stührenberg, CEO of Phoenix Contact. “This is because sustainable innovation can only be achieved through close collaboration.”

Gerhard Borho, Director of IT and Digitalization at Festo, adds that: “We are convinced that the openness of PLCnext will provide many benefits to our customers.”
