Pixalate publishes a list of mobile apps with the highest scores

LONDON, May 24, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Pixelatthe market-leading fraud, privacy and compliance analytics platform for Connected TV (CTV) and mobile advertising, today released the April 2024 IVT Mobile Apps Report. Apple App Store AND Google Play Store. The series shows which mobile apps appear to be most affected by invalid traffic (IVT), including ad fraud, as measured by Pixalate.

As of April 2024, Pixalate analyzed over 385,000 app downloads in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store and over 31.8 billion open programmatic ad impressions worldwide.

The reports highlight the five most common types of IVT observed by Pixalate on both mobile application platforms during the study period, namely:

  • Display ad fraud (Refined outlier activity*): includes impressions generated from the same browser or device with a statistically significant inflated rate.
  • Video views scam (Refined outlier activity*): Video ad views generated on the same browser or device with a statistically significant inflated rate.
  • Masked IP (Manipulation/Spoofing of Location Related Attributes*): Includes video ad views generated on the same browser or device with a statistically significant inflated rate.
  • Proxy (Invalid proxy traffic*): The display comes from an intervening proxy device that manipulates the traffic counter, allows non-human or invalid traffic, or does not follow the protocol.
  • High risk device identifier (Known dangerous or fake SIVT sources*): The display comes from a device ID marked as having a high risk of invalid traffic.

*( ) denotes the IVT detection method in accordance with the Media Rating Council (MRC) invalid traffic guidelines.
Pixalate excluded spoofing from this report because spoofing requires different tactics to prevent it (e.g., blocking an app that is highly influenced by spoofing can lead to blocking apps that generate real traffic that is attractive to buyers). See ours Mobile app spoofing series to list the apps most affected by the IVT spoofing type.
